I’ve been settling into my new home in California, and getting my room set up how I like it. My walls were starting to look pretty white and boring, so this weekend I decided to whip together a quick wall hanging. It’s easy and quick, and it really livens up a boring or plain space! It’s a good afternoon project to tuck away for a rainy or cold day.
DIY Felt Wall Hanging
- Gather your supplies, and cut out the shape you want a bunch of times. I chose hearts, but I think this would work well with geometric shapes like triangles or diamonds! I used glittery red felt, light blue felt, navy felt, and black felt. You’ll also need scissors and yarn.
- Cut 2 small holes in the center of each felt shape (just wide enough to pass yarn through the holes).
- String yarn through the shapes, leaving a few inches between each heart. Make the strands as long or short as you want. I didn’t want mine to look too even, so I cute various lengths of thread.
- Hang on the wall using a thumb tack or nail. And you’re done! Step back to admire your handiwork.
See how easy!? I hope you try this quick little DIY, let me know how it turns out for you!
Since 3/4 of my family are leaving for a big road trip on Christmas, my family decided to decorate the house in “minimalistic” fashion this year. Here are some peeks at some of the decorations up in our house this December:
My great-uncle carved this wooden Santa for my mom a few years back.
Our family + pets’ stockings
A ceramic musical Frosty
Little animal figurines from New Mexico on the mantle.
Even the house plant has lights!
First things first: I love decorating for the holidays. It’s one of my favorite holiday activities, and I always feel so happy to see little decorations all over the house. It helps me get through the start of winter. I’m not decorating my house in Pittsburgh for the holidays, since I’m flying back home to Colorado in a couple of days (!!!), but I’m hoping to help decorate my parents house when I get back home.
I’ve been looking for lots of decor inspirations this season, and today I want to share some of my favorite ideas. Fair warning: I love non-traditional, modern, and quirky decor.

What decorations are you dreaming of this season? I’m so excited to put on some holiday music, bring out the fuzzy socks, and get some decorating done back home. Tis’ the season!
