I’m a thrift store addict. Seriously, there’s very few things I enjoy more than scouring the shelves for unique pieces. Since I’ve been looking for work, I’ve gotten really into thrifting (I have a lot more free time right now than I’m used to). I have several regular haunts, and I’ve found a ton of great stuff this year! Here’s some of the treasures I’ve found:
This awesome end table was the perfect fit in our family room. Plus, I think it looks adorable with books stacked in the open shelves. My mom and I also picked this lamp (and it’s twin, not pictured) and rewired them. We fell in love with the gray ceramic, and knew we had to have them.
I just found this great swan purse yesterday, and I am in love! It’s the sweetest handbag. And yes, I have plenty of purses. But I couldn’t leave this beauty behind.
I shared my DIY makeover of this little end-table earlier this year, you can read about it here.
These crazy patterned pants were love at first sight, and I’ve worn them so many times already this season. Something about patterned pants just gets me every time.
My owl obsession has been fierce since I was a kid, and this little owl picture made me swoon. It’s new home is on a picture wall in our family room.
Keep an eye out for more of my thrift store finds! It’s a habit I’m not likely to kick soon (:
We’ve finally gotten to that “Dog Days of Summer” time of year, although here in CO it’s been really cool (like pants weather) this week. I’m in full speed job-searching mode around here, so life’s been a little hectic, but also exciting.
Here’s a few photos from what’s been going on around here lately:
- I passed the NBCOT (a really big scary national board exam for occupational therapy), and i had a special celebration with my family and this amazing bundt cake.
- doggie car rides are always the best. this dude is turning 14 next week and we’re all amazed and grateful that he’s lived this long and happy life. he had cancer a few years back, and the vet told us this year that he’s got active cancer now, so we’re not expecting a lot more time with him but we’re grateful for every day that he’s able to spend with us (still enjoying life).
- I bought this little stool for $3 at a thrift store; it had black legs and the most hideous carpety fabric. I painted the legs white and recovered the cushion in this adorable citron polka dot fabric. it’s currently functioning at my sewing table/vanity table.
- in one of my free hours last week i made this little polka dot card set. i used acrylic paint, heavy art paper (which I cut into the perfect sizes), and this calligraphy cheat.
Hope your week is going great!
Happy weekend, I hope you’re dealing with the Daylight Savings time loss better than I am (hint: I’m complaining about losing an hour of weekend time. Like, can’t that hour come out of Monday, instead?).
I’m just sharing a couple of pictures from last week!
I’ve been dreaming of these sandals for a few months, and I finally snagged a pair on sale! I love them.
Snuggling with the cat next door.
With temps in the 80s all week, I spent some time in my favorite sunnies from Urban Outfitters. They’re so big on my face and probably look silly, but I love ’em.
I picked up this sweet ‘thank you’ card this week for a friend.
Last week I finished up the summer semester at school and hopped on a plane back to Colorado for the summer. I’ve been home with my family for a few days, and I’ve really settled in to being back. The weather has been really good here this week, and I’m enjoying spending lots of time in our backyard with my pets. I start work in a couple of days, and I’m planning some DIY projects to share on the blog with all of you. Until then, here are a few snapshots of the last few days at home.
My mom and I made this incredible warm quinoa salad for dinner last weekend.
Ben is still doing pretty dang good for a 12 year old (almost 13!) shepard. He’s such a handsome fellow!
My parents spent the better part of last year putting up this gorgeous beetle-kill wood on their back porch. The picture doesn’t do it justice, it’s really beautiful in person!
Elouise spends most of her day outside in the garden. Summer is definitely her favorite time of year.

I hope you’re all having a great June — can you believe the 4th of July is next week? I can’t. Slow down, summer!
