Life Update: Spring Fever

I’ve had a looooott of people ask me how I’m liking California so far. And to be honest, I’m really liking it! But I’ve had some bouts of grouchiness with all the rain we’ve been having here…I mean, I know it’s a good thing. But also, I’m a sun baby. I love my sunshine, and just getting outdoors, and when I can’t do that I start to get a little antsy. Anyway, overall I’d have to say that California has been treating me well so far! I’m dreaming of Spring, and am already more than ready to break out my shorts and start shopping for swimsuits for the Summer…yeah, I get a little excited about warm weather.

Here are some snapshots from life lately:

I just bought this cute little lens for your iPhone, it slips right over the camera slot. I’ve been playing with it a bit, here are a couple of the wide angle shots:

Been feeling a bit under the weather the last couple weeks, so I’ve been upping my Vitamin C intake, which looks like this for me (I’m not big on taking medicine):

Lately I’ve had the creative itch…I’ve been doing a lot of painting and sewing! I made some adorable pillowcases with the cutest prints. Popsicles!?! I mean!!?

So that’s a little bit of what I’ve been up to! Hope you have a wonderful week. Holy cow, we’re welcoming March this week! :0

Currently I’m…May

Holy cow, you guys. Is it just me or does it feel like we just celebrated New Years? Things are really rolling around here, I’m getting ready to finish my last 4 weeks of my clinical rotation here in NC (and finish school, forever!) and make the drive back to CO for the summer, and I can’t believe how fast the time has flown by. Today I ordered the study book for my OT boards exam that I’ll be studying for all summer, and things are really starting to sink in. I’m so looking forward to summer’s arrival (it is my favorite season, after all) and spending some quality time at home. Side note, any good tips for things to do/places to eat in Nashville? I’ll be driving through next month and I’d love a chance to check out the city.

Here’s what I’ve been up to this month so far…

Spring Fashion Inspiration

Even though I’m escaping all of the wintery snow and cold this year, I’m looking forward to spring. The days will get longer, the flowers will start to bloom, and of course, a new season of fashion will be upon us. I’ve started making wishlists (it’s how I prioritize what I really want to buy each season) for this spring/summer already, and today I’m going to share them with all of you!

Here’s what I’m looking for this spring:

1. Suede skirts. I know, I’m a little late to the party, but I think these button-down suede skirts would work for all 4 seasons. You can dress them up or down, and they’d go with almost anything. Personally, I’m looking for a navy color; it’s a little different than the popular camel color, and I think it’d be more flattering for my skin tone. (Blue and Beige)

2. Bold prints. Nothing new here, you guys already know I love bold prints and colors (especially when a matching set is involved!). This Ann Taylor culotte/top combo is just perfect, something you could wear together or separately for lots of cheerful looks. (Top and Bottom)

4. Flared jeans. These have been “in” all year, but I think they’re here to stay. Wide leg and flare jeans are a fun way to mix it up, and while I’m loyal to my boyfriend jeans, I’m on the hunt for a good pair of flares. (Flares)

5. Flat booties. I have a great pair of low-heel ankle boots that I love, but I’ve been searching for a flat pair of booties for the longest time. I love the pairing of these tan booties with a shirtdress: so cute! (Booties)

So those are the big items on my spring wishlist. What about you? What spring trends are you searching for?

Life Lately: April Showers

It’s been raining a lot the last couple weeks here in Pittsburgh, and I feel like spring is finally here. The grass is suddenly green, there are flowers blooming, and the trees are starting to bud! Here are a few photos from the last couple of weeks.

I treated myself to a scone and coffee at an amazing bakery this week.

Happy weekend, everyone! Hope you have a great one.

Friend Dates: Flowers and Thai Food

Today was the last day of classes for our Spring Semester (Finals are next week, lots of studying this weekend!) and we got out of class a little early, so I made plans with a couple friends to celebrate! It felt like we earned a little bit of a study break. So after our class ended, we headed over to Phipps Conservatory to walk through the gardens. Phipps is just always the best place to go. It’s so rejuvenating.

What a great break from the hustle-bustle of the semester! After Phipps, we headed over to Shadyside and had some killer Thai food at Noodlehead (I would highly recommend it!). Their menu is short but they have obviously perfected each dish. I tried the Pad Thai, which was incredible, and I can’t wait to go back and try some of their other dishes. Amazing.

It was a great outing, and I loved spending some time with my friends outside of school. It feels like we get so busy sometimes that I only get to see them when we’re at school, and it was really nice to get away from all of that and just have some fun.

Life Update: Welcoming March

Happy March, everyone! I am certainly glad to see February make it’s exit; it’s been a really hectic and overwhelming month at school, and the weather here in Pittsburgh has just been bitterly cold for so long that I’m not sure how much longer I can stand it! We had a couple of weeks in a row where the temperature didn’t make it above zero. I am truly thankful to my family and friends for listening to me complain and grouch about the weather.

I’m hoping for some warmer weather heading our way soon (please, let there be sun!) as March unfolds. My mood has also perked up a bit because I’m headed to Florida for spring break this year, and I can’t wait to get there. I’ve been looking forwards to this trip all winter long, and just knowing that I’ll soon be laying on a beach makes me feel a little less sad on the inside.

I made this birthday card for one of my good friends — can’t wait to mail it next month!

I’ve been trying to improve my lettering and handwriting skills, so I’ve been practicing every chance I get (aka during lengthy lectures and while watching 30 Rock — multitasking works, right?).

Anyway, lets hope that March brings us some sunshine and warmer temps. Have a great week!
